Color Doppler uses a directional color map: flow toward the transducer is shown as red and flow away from the transducer is shown as blue. In the pulmonary artery view, the blood moving from the heart into the pulmonary artery travels away from the transducer, so the flow appears blue. Other colors like green or yellow are not used to indicate the basic direction in the standard map and may reflect turbulence or mapping choices, not the primary direction.
